Review of Projects in 2017

It has been a pretty busy year around here, and finally it is fall!

You would think that means that we slow down, right? But we don’t! We will continue to do our exterior projects until there’s three feet of snow on the ground.  Our production crew and installers know each of our products inside and out, so they know what the temperature needs to be for proper installation.  What does that mean for you? We still have time to do your roof!

Here are some highlights of favorite roofing, siding, and deck projects for the year!

New Metal Barn Roof in Bolivar, Ohio

We were able to meet Mr. and Mrs. Zwick while working in the Bolivar area last summer.  They had storm damage on their home and barn and Ken was able to help walk them through the insurance process.  It can be difficult to navigate filing an insurance claim in a storm area to ensure that everyone is treated fairly.  We pride ourselves on being a local contractor, trusted to be around for a long time to come.  There are companies that will come in, do their jobs, and leave.. never to be heard from again.

Here are a few shots of the metal roof on this barn.  It was completed in our Classic Rib Panel, the color is Charcoal.

Exterior Remodel in Dover, Ohio

We had the pleasure of working with a lovely couple, Rod & Sue Rothacher, from Dover, Ohio earlier this year.  We just recently received their review in the mail, and they are ecstatic.  In their words:

We are so impressed by the quality of the work and how helpful our contractor (Ken Troyer) was. He was prompt and was available to answer all questions. He dropped off samples for our opinion before we made decisions. We could not be more satisfied. The crew was always right on time and when they finished they cleaned up. They also took great care not to ruin our flowers around the house.

It is our goal to make every customer feel like they are a priority.  We go out with the intention of giving every person the best roof and siding workmanship we possibly can.  Here are a few pictures of the project after its completion.

Beyond roofing, this project included many different products.   We installed  Heartland Vinyl Siding in Sienna.  Heartland is a superior brand of siding and they have many different styles and colors to choose from.  We were able to help the Rothachers’ choose an accent in Cedar Impression Shakes in Cypress Green.

The stone work on was also a new addition, and really dresses up the look of your home.  It’s never too late to go for the look that you want! The roof installed were Timberline HD shingles, manufactured by GAF, in Slate. In addition we installed two new Veluxe skylights.

A New Roof means New Hope for Sandy Simon

Sometimes God lays things on our hearts, and you can look at a situation and see His handy work.

A couple of months ago Dan Yoder, one of our owners, felt led to help someone who needed a new roof.  In communicating with some of his friends at Light in the Valley Church  he discovered that the church wanted to partner as well to help someone in need, but they didn’t have a person in mind yet.

Meanwhile, Ken Troyer, another of our owners, was out meeting with clients and he met Sandy Simon.  Sandy’s husband passed away about a year ago, and her children aren’t able to help her much.  She lives alone, on a fixed income, with a decent sized property to take care of since her husband passed away.  She knew need she needed a new roof and Ken was looking at it give her a quote.  She told him she wasn’t sure how she was going to pay for it yet, but she needed the price so that she could try to work up the funds.  Ken saw an opportunity to give back, but didn’t say anything to her yet.

When Ken was discussing this roof with Dan, a plan began to formulate where Kline Home Exteriors, Light in the Valley Church, and First Choice Exteriors were able to partner up and cover the cost of the roof for Sandy.  When Ken went back to Sandy with this plan, she was absolutely floored.  She even called a couple days later to find out how much money she would need, and Ken had to explain again that it was all being donated to her. She was very touched through this process.  Sandy felt that there hasn’t been many people out there that were able to help her out in life.  She sent us a card (pictured below) saying “… I appreciate all that you’ve done for me, not only for the roof but for also restoring my faith that there truly are still decent, kind, generous people left in this world.”

Sandy Simon Card

Pictured here is a card that Sandy sent us.  It is a blessing to our company, staff, and crews to be able to pour into a person in need.

How to Choose the Right Contractor

Choosing the right contractor can be intimidating, especially if you are not given a reference or know someone personally.  We’ve all heard stories of home projects gone bad, where the contractor didn’t follow through on their word.  In fact, we have many stories of our clients where we able to come in and rectify a bad situation due to the previous contractor.

Here are a few tips to help you pick the right contractor:

  1. Compare Apples to Apples

There is often a lack of consistency in estimates, that’s hard to identify, when comparing contractor to contractor.  Make sure that you request the same work from each contractor.  On the flip side, ask each contract to describe what they may do differently from their competitor.

  1. Callback Turnaround

Responsiveness is key.  If this contractor doesn’t call you back within 48 hours they may be unreliable.  You need someone who is available for you, and keeps you in the communication loop.

  1. What Will Your Project Look Like?

Ask them how a typical project is ran? How big is the crew, what time do they show up, how long will it take them?  This will give you a good idea of how smoothly your project will go.

  1. What Do They Do Best

Find out what each contractor specializes in.  Residential, commercial, kitchen renovations, new construction… There are many different facets to construction.  You can also ask to see pictures of their past projects.  If they say they’re a roofer, but don’t have a lot of roofing projects to show you, there may be a problem.

  1. Check Them Out

Here are a few places/things to check:

-If they are registered with your city, check to see if there are any complaints filed against them?

-Do they carry the appropriate insurance?

-Do they have any references to show you, or refer you to?

-How long have they been in business?

Each of these items can be applied to any area of contracting, and should be looked at across the board.  So having said all that, here’s a little more about us!

Kline Home Exteriors has been in business since 2009.  We are a full service Home Exterior company, specializing in roofing, siding, gutters, windows, doors, and decks.  We have Amish crews, that will come out and use their experience craftsmanship to complete your job quickly and effectively.  We typically finish roofs in less than a day.  We are fully licensed and insured, and we are registered with a number of cities through out Ohio.  Our main office is in Holmes County, Ohio, right in the heart of Amish Country.  We do travel up to 100 miles to complete jobs for customers, and we give out free estimates.  We pride ourselves on being detailed and going the extra mile for our customer.  We want to ensure the quality of our craftsmanship lasts for years to come.

Do you have storm damage?

We have had a lot of storms move through Ohio lately, and you may be wondering… do I have storm damage? Kline is adept at helping customers identify when their home has been damaged, and walking homeowners through the insurance process. Here are some key signs your house may be damaged.

1. Hail Damage:  Look for dents or cracks on your windows, siding, screens, and doors.  If we come to inspect your home we will climb on your roof to identify hail strikes and bruises.

2.  Wind Damage:  Look for blown off shingles.  You may not be able to climb up to you roof, but there may also be some shingles creased by wind damage.

We use only the highest quality products available, and our shingles are rated for up to 130 mph.  Trust us to come out and inspect your home, walk you through the process, and repair everything so it’s more protected than ever.
